The organisers of this event have pledged to...

Eliminate Single-Use Plastic
Going The Extra Mile
Incorporate Seasonal Local Produce
Reduce Food Waste

We will offer seasonal local produce, where available, and indicate these where appropriate

We only use seasonal local produce for our vegetarian and vegan cafe. We do NOT offer avocado toast! We use FareShare fruit and veg to create wholesome soups/chutneys/jams and savoury items. We benefit from gleaned berries in the summer which we freeze and use to make jams and cakes/muffins. We pride ourselves in being local and seasonal only, working with local suppliers wherever possible.

We have a plan in place to reduce food waste

We use TooGoodtoGo app so that any food left over is sold at a vastly reduced price to customers. We also give away left over items to our volunteers so we do not throw away any food. As part of the Festival we will be giving away free cake samples to the registered guests in our event. We do not anticipate there being any left over! We have food recycling bins- but this is normally just for the scraps left on plates.

We will not use single-use plastic

We do not use single use plastic in our cafe for food service. We use compostable veg ware, bamboo cutlery and paper bags for takeaway. We recycle all our tins/glass/paper. We would like to introduce a sustainability reward scheme where customers who provide their own (non single use) takeaway cup get a discount off the coffee/tea.

Other

We have coffee grounds at the end of each day and would like to donate these to local gardeners to use as compost and slug deterrent.
