As part of the Dundee Food Festival, Dundee Cycle Hub is providing a free Dr Bike service hosted at the hub, alongside information on E-Cargo bikes and their Crazy Bike fleet.

Our Dr Bike service will be providing free bike health and safety checks from 10am – 3pm. If you have a bike that’s been sitting in a shed or even a daily commuter that you want checked over, bring it along! You can also reserve your time slot ahead of time via our eventbrite!

We will also be providing information on our E-Cargo bike fleet and our free E-cargo bike loan project!

Our crazy bikes are a hit with young and old and are a great way of encouraging inclusive physical activity to a wide range of people. A fleet of wacky weird and wondrous bikes of all shapes and sizes.

The organisers of this event have pledged to...

Eliminate Single-Use Plastic
Going The Extra Mile
Incorporate Seasonal Local Produce
Reduce Food Waste

We will offer seasonal local produce, where available, and indicate these where appropriate

We always try and offer local, seasonal produce and dishes based on this where ever possible. Ross, our cafe manager, comes from a fresh produce and local farm shop background so is well versed on seasonality and has good links with local suppliers. Our soups are made daily and reflect whatever our Broughty Ferry based, local produce supplier recommends. Our coffee is ground by an excellent Glasgow roastery. Our main ingredients suppliers are Edinburgh. As for any cakes that aren’t made in house – lovely brownies are always supplied by Artisana in Monikie and our Traybakes come all Broughty Ferry. We use Mackie’s Ice Cream as well and will be working on a locally focused menu for the event.

We have a plan in place to reduce food waste

We are always planning our menus and prep with an eye to reducing food waste.
Everything we make is in small batches, and our menu is planned to optimise the use of our different ingredients.
We have a food recycling bin for any waste we do have and we use ToGoodToGo to make sure any potential waste does get used.

For the event we will continue to work as we do normally and minimise any food waste from an environmental and a cost to the busines perspective.

We will not use single-use plastic

We don’t use single-use plastics here at DCH and we will continue with this for the event and onwards.
All of our packaging and cutlery is fully recyclable and we will set up recycle bins on site on the day to encourage proper waste disposal.
As a Community Interest Company invested in sustainabity we always have a positive and active interest in minimising use of plastic and making full use of sustainable materials.

Other

For the event weekend we will be focusing our menu on locally centred Specials and promoting what our fantastic area has to offer.
